& 2024 World’s Coffee in Good Spirits Vice Champion

COFFEE IN GOOD SPIRITS

What started as a fun 100 day coffee and cocktail challenge during the pandemic led Sandro to his first competition: the 2022 Swiss Coffee in Good Spirits, where he placed first. He went on to win the title again in 2023, earning his spot at the 2024 World Coffee in Good Spirits in Copenhagen, where he achieved an impressive 2nd place. Since then, Sandro has hosted a series of “Bar Sandro” pop-ups and café takeovers, served as a Technical Judge for the 2025 Swiss Coffee in Good Spirits, and most recently coached the 2026 Swiss Coffee in Good Spirits Champion, Suki Ma.

To further promote Swiss Coffee Culture and local spirits, Sandro created the video series Road to Geneva, traveling across Switzerland to interview key voices in the country’s coffee and spirits scene, all leading up to this year’s World Coffee Festival in Geneva.

COMPETITIONS

  • Sandro competed his first time in Zürich, Switzerland where he presented his 'Whey Too Berry' cold coffee cocktail that used whey from Goat Cheese giving the cocktail a smooth finish. Sandro will have the opportunity to travel to Taiwan to compete in the World's Coffee in Good Spirits Championship.

  • Sandro competes for the second time, creating an elevated version of a traditional Swiss coffee cocktail known as 'Kafi Luz'. Placing in first, Sandro will be participating in the World's Coffee in Good Spirits Championship '24 taking place in Copenhagen.

  • This is Sandro's second time to compete in the World's CIGS championship and won 2nd place. He presented his cold coffee cocktail called the 'Coffee Mary' inspired by the Bloody Mary and uses sweet red pepper juice instead of tomato juice. His warm cocktail was an elevated traditional Swiss coffee cocktail called 'Kafi Luz'.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER BY TRADE

Sandro cares about quality—whether he’s drinking coffee, searching for a new bike, or designing. As head of industrial design at IRIX Design GmbH, Sandro oversees photography, production, and cappuccino preparation. He’s worked under photographer Dennis Savini, completed a 4-year interior design apprenticeship, and holds a masters in industrial design from FDA in Florence, where he was honored with the elite student award. Sandro’s designs have won a reddot design award in 2019, 2020 and 2021 as well as an IF design award in 2020.

AWARDS

  • AVA combines the aesthetic of an illuminated disc with the warm qualities of a textile lampshade. In order to facilitate installation, the ceiling light is equipped with a patented click system, allowing the simple attachment of the lampshade to the housing as well as an easy replacement.
